Considered as a part of the American Romantic Movement and often credited with the invention of the genre of detective fiction, Edgar Allan Poe is also known to have immensely contributed to science fiction genre. He was also a renowned poet, literary critic, and editor. Some of Poe’s works had a Gothic backdrop too, with events related to death, premature burial, and the likes. He has written books like The Imp Of The Perverse, The Purloined Letter, The Haunted Palace, The Tell-Tale Heart, and Annabel Lee. Poe breathed his last in the year 1849, at a young age of 40
